(Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)
Target Audience
This qualification is designed for those who may come in to contact with substances hazardous to health at work. It is appropriate for all employees who use substances hazardous to health in manufacturing, cleaning, healthcare, transport, utilities and offices.
Course Aims
The course introduces candidates to substances, the risks and controls available, and outlines what to expect from a control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH) assessment.
The qualification will prepare employees to contribute to the safer use of hazardous substances in their workplaces. Successful completion will prepare employees to look carefully at their own work activities and contribute to the safer use of hazardous substances in cooperation with their managers and supervisors.
Course Objectives
On completion of this programme candidates will be able to:
• Identify the hazards associated with those substances identify the risks and controls available to deal with the substances identify what to expect from a COSHH assessment.
Course Duration
This course is normally delivered over a ‘half day’ (3 hours). Delegates who successfully complete the course are awarded a COSHH certificate of attendance and it is recommended that annual updates are also attended.
